Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2005
Subject: Praia da Vitória, Terceira island, Azores

Hey Guys! How can you describe a first time? 20 years in the run and I was taking a boat to see my youth idol for the first time.
Born in the Azores, I never get the chance to go to the continent and see Fish perform. I think you all can imagine a boys dream at 12 to see Fish and realising he was not, ever, coming to play in Azores... And now, he was playing here in the middle of the Atlantic ocean! A miracle, and a unique opportunity for me.
For more of a kind of magic, Fish was performing my first Marillion record and companion in so many nights through my youth. Misplaced in all is glory... could that be truth?
Previous week was spent dreaming of the day and in many, and nervous, checking at the The Company web site to see if the where any changes in the tour.
Finally the day arrives. I'm on Terceira island, meet Fish and the band previous to the sound check. What a treat!!! Every one of them the most gentlemen you can imagine... I can only be dreaming!
The usual and nervous photo with Fish, autographs, and an invitation to go with the Fish gang to the sound check. One of the most marvellous afternoons of my life; to see Fish perform three or four songs "just for me", to see the band being treated as they deserve (limousine, red wine at will), and, to get a back stage pass from Yatta (thank you!!!). And then, it was show time. Sincerely, I was not expecting the best "environment" from the audience. It was a show integrated in the local city year festivities so; the audience was, at his best, people with the curiosity to see and hear an international music star. I image only few real know the music so, was ready for a good show but with few or non audience reaction.
Man, was I wrong, half way through people were clapping at Fish's command and enjoying every minute of it. They where conquered by the extraordinary force and persistence of our Star and band.
I was astonished... the band was superb, Fish visible at good mood and willing to break the ice. That was what I loved more and was touched by in the all event; to realise that the Big Bear still has it all. The voice, the music, the charisma, and the strength to carry on better and better. Fantastic!!!
Only to say that the set list was the usual for this tour (great choice as I think), and to thank the all band for being so nice and re-restoring my faith in Fish. Raw Meat!!!
